Another one bites the dust

Ok so the girlfriend is over!!! long story short she was not the one for me and there was no need to waste each others time. I kinda feel bad about it though, I think she's upset but I'm not sure. Officially we are going to "step back and go slow". But she's not speaking to me so I don't know how upset she really is. Or maybe that tells me how upset she is... hmmm. I'ma channel my inner asshole and keep it moving.

My niece turned 16 this week and she's having a 80's theme party. I got my RUN-DMC costume all ready to go. I'll post pics on monday.

Have a good weekend!

Random commercial

So I was minding my own business, watching tv when I was presented with this commercial

Now at first I thought I was tripping. Like I know I didn't just see old ass Patrick Ewing with a f!cked up high-top breaking the backboard on some dude. Needless to say I was laughing at this for a good 10 minutes. I'm easily amused.

Side Note: I saw Patrick Ewing in person once. I was walking thru Pentagon City (it's a mall in VA) with my ex and we walked past Patrick and a wizards player (at this time Ewing was an assistant coach for the wizards). So Patrick and the player were eying up my girl as I was amazed at just how tall them bammas were. The ex mentioned that they were looking and my first response was "damn baby... go holla at them, I could use some free tickets!" She didn't find it funny. I just think she didn't see the opportunity that I saw. We could have been courtside! lol

Live from the Corner pt... pt Dodgeball

So over in the corner I don't get many fringe benefits. I work with mostly smart people. Only thing is very few of them are attractive. It's rare you meet a young attractive black woman in IT.

So imagine my surprise when I'm sitting in another vendor meeting and this beautiful sales rep walks in from IBM. A funny thing happens when you see a young black woman in IT, you exchange eye contact quickly forget why your there and think how can I slip her my number. It's a completely instinctive thing. I can only think she sees few young black men in her travels because she seemed just as shocked to see me sitting in the room. I can imagine her day consists of sitting in meeting after meeting with middle aged white men.

There I was sitting across from this woman trying not to stare. I kept thinking how I wish I had my business cards to hand her. Yet still trying to focus on what I'm getting paid to do. After all this was a business meeting. I crack a couple jokes, say "bless you" when she sneezes and conduct myself in a normal manner. I decide to send my girl a text during the power point presentation. I needed the reminder. Then she hands out HER business card. Damn I could just email her when I get back to my desk. My co-works can't clown me if they never know right? I know she will remember me. What are the odds I'ma see her again?

Anyway we shake hands exchange pleasantries and I head back to my desk. My co-worker mentions how she was cute, I agree. I was waiting for them to make a joke how I should have tried to holla. It never came, Dave dodges another bullet. Did I mention I stood next to the baddest chick on the train friday? we rode all the way to my stop and she parked 3 cars from me. 3 CARS!!! she was in a white 5 series BMW, This kinda stuff happens to me when I'm being good. God is funny like that.

Keep It in Your Pants

I might have mentioned the HIV rate in DC before.  I know I talked about how 1 in 20 people around here have it.  Well I was reminded of this when the washington post put out this article

In the article they say the HIV rate is 3% in DC.  To put that in perspective they consider 1% a crisis.  It's higher then some places in west africa and on par with Uganda and some parts of Kenya.  Amoung black men the rate is 7%.  That's just crazy.  people really really need to stop fuckin.  I'm sure that study doesn't account for people who don't know they have it.   I can't imagine being a woman trying to find a husband in this area.

This study scared me.  I know people who have sex with multiple partners and don't really consider the consequences.  Besides having babies people don't think about STD's like that.  We go off a "it looks ok" theory.  Personaly I've been STD free since 1979 and I'd like to stay that way.

Anyway folks.. strap up or drink a V8. Just because it looks good doesn't mean it is good.
